Lee Minho who reached stardom because of "Boys Over Flowers" visited Taiwan today for the Etude event. Lee Minho revealed the type of girl he admires and expresses that he currently does not have a girlfriend. However, he wishes to one day help his girlfriend to put on makeup and personally cook ramen for her.

MinSun's Interview for Taiwan Vogue Magazine (July Issue)

The caption on the side reads: when both of leads who are as beautiful as flowers entered the room, it feels as if the room is lighted up with their warmth in answering the interview questions, it's hard not to be charmed by them.

Q: GHS, your skin is really and beautiful, can you share with us your beauty secrets? How do you maintain your fair skin?

HS: eating well, sleeping well.

MH: Besides those [referring to the above], she does not use other ways to maintain her beauty. (laughs)

HS: Eh~ and I try not to stay in the sun. So I prefer to go out in the night. But it also could be that I am sitting beside LMH, so I look fairer. (laughs)

Q: It seems like your relationship with each other is pretty good, can you tell us about what you think of each other?

MH: After 6 months of working together, where we face each other from day to night, we are now very good friends who are familiar with each other. And it actually feels like we have known each other for more than 6 months, in fact it feels more like we've been friends since children.

HS: LMH is a very easy-going and warm person. Even though we now know each other very well, in actual fact, I feel LMH is now no different from the time I first knew him. [she is actually praising MH for being very unpretentious & real.]

Q: In the drama, there are many scenes where GHS has to wear a swimsuit. Can you tell us more about that? Did you find that since the swimsuit's cutting is more conservative, it actually hides your figure?

HS: Whenever there is filming for swimsuit scene, I'd try not to eat so much the day before so as to appear slimmer. But I would go on a eating rampage again after filming. (smiles) [interview note: LMH who had been staring out of the window started to smile when he heard this]. The selection of the conservative swimsuit was for Jandi's image of a student who is also an atheletic swimmer so the more conservative, the suitable it is for the role! In fact, the more it hides, the better it is.

Q: Other than acting and modelling, LMH you have gone into singing and GHS, you have not only published your novel but you have ventured into directing your first film. Other than these achievements, are there any other talents you are proud of but have not been discovered for it yet?

MH: I have not thought of any specific area where I dictate myself to develop. I hope to try many things. But I would like to focus more on improving my acting.

GHS: In June, I'll be having an art exhibition and in July, I'll be releasing some piano compositions but I have not decided if I have the time to perform them myself.

Q: After these 2 days in Taiwan, have you tasted anything that left a deep impression or any food that is extremely good?

[Interview note: At this qns, GHS displays a Jandi-like reaction, with a dreamy, sweet smile. Wonder what exactly that is so tasty that she's thinking of?]

HS: Peking duck, hehehe

MH: Eh~ I also find that Peking duck has left a deep impression and shark's fin, I find it very tasty too.

Q: For the both of you, how does BOF's sudden popularity affect your personal or professional lives?

MH: Because I'm a newbie, I find that it is difficult to get used to be closely scrutinized by everyone. After 2 to 3 weeks, then i slowly got used to it. Because the drama was filmed and then aired at the same time, outdoor filming was disrupted. (this part he repeated the story of avoiding the fans by stopping & filming later)

HS: Maybe it's because I have acted before, I have been easily recognized. But now after BOF, more people now recognize me. I am very appreciative of the support, care & concern that we received, which made us so popular. For that, we are deeply grateful to our supporters. In the past, I am not very conscious of being recognized in the streets, so I like to travel by the metro in simple disguise! Now I have to wear a big face mask. But I have to remove it while eating so I get recognized by the eatery owner who would give extra servings - this I am very happy about, haha.

Q: Talking about going out in disguise, how does LMH disguise your height since you are so tall that you would stand out in the crowd?

MH: I don't go out in disguise since no matter how I do it, I still get recognized.

Q: There are many scenic scenes in the drama. Can the both of you recommend any sightseeing and eating spots that the audience should know about?

MH: Namsam Tower and Jeju are 2 of the places in the drama that are worth visiting. For food, visitors should of course try Korea's kimchi and kimchi chigae!

HS: (I'm sorry, I don't know the 2 places she's referring to for visit, only that there's a palace and korea's 2nd largest somewhere which is a port. For food, she was about to answer when the interview note said that MH suddenly mischievously interjected with a "Porridge!", referring to HS's role as a Jandi who works part-time in a porridge eatery. At this, those pressent at the interview laughed. HS who had been serious in giving the answer was also lulled into laughter.)

HS: As for food, I want to recommend XXX ==> again sorry I don't know what this is (interview note: a kind of fermented yellow bean paste with a strong smell, which is similar to Taiwan's smelly toufu)

Q: When it comes to food, we heard of GHS's large appetite. Is this true?

HS: When I'm under pressure, then I'll eat more! While filming, it is usually pressurizing so I'll look for food. Everyone on the set can be heard saying: Eating again? Eating again? The longest record i have for eating is 8 hours continuous eating.

MH: Initially when I did not know HS so well, I thought that a girl who can eat with so much gusto is really not bad ( i cant find a better word to describe..i think he meant likeable as she is so unself-conscious.) But when I knew her better, I realized that she is really eating too much so I can't help but to tell her: stop eating already! stop eating!

Q: In the drama, Jandi threw up on Junpyo after drinking. How are your drinking capacity in real life?

MH: I can't drink alot as I can't hold my alcohol too well. But for GHS, she drinks more than she eats haha

[at this, GHS burst out laughing as well and hurries to explain]

HS: The thing I actually enjoy most is the friendly atmosphere/ambiance when drinking. You can break the ice or close the gap with people you don't know well or improve relationship with friends who are not so close. And after drinking, one can become unhibbited and liberated. Alcohol is my friend (said in Chinese). Hahaha. it seems that the ambience is improved with some alcohol. I think my alcohol limit is really not too bad as I have played drinking games while karaoke with friends for 8 hours. I have never got drunk in exaggerated manner like in drama. But i have witnessed many around me who have become drunk. (laughs)

Q: Due to the immense popularity of Boys Over Flowers, I heard that Lee Minho has become the popular new face for plastic surgery (meaning people want to look like him after surgery). Which part of your features do you like or dislike the most?

LMH:I'm most satisfied with my eyes and the part where i'm most dissatisfied would be my chin.

(Everyone was surprised since they think LMH has a perfect chin!)

LMH:I'm referring to the sides of my chin. I think they jut out too much, if they can move in a little bit that would be good. (laugh)

Q: GHS gave us the impression of being quiet and poised/elegant during these 3 days in Taiwan, which is very different from Geum Jandi's animated outgoing personality. Did you face any difficulty portraying Jandi's character especially since the role you're in is someone younger than your age?

LMH: I think it will prove harder for her to portray a quiet character. (laugh)

GHS: Everytime I'm acting I try my best to be absorbed in the role. Therefore my personality tends to change according to the role I'm portraying. For example when I was playing the role of queen in "The king and I", I needed to exude a proper quiet image. During that time, people had the impression that I was quiet. People think I'm more bubbly and optimistic because I've been influenced by Geum Jandi's character.

As for Jandi' being of younger age, I was pretty worried initially. I purposely cut my hair short. I'd be acting along F4 who are younger than me, so I was very concerned that I would appear older than them. I also ate more hoping that i'd gain some on my cheeks and look younger. Unfortunately, it went to waste and what I ate grew in places where they shouldn't have gone to, while my cheeks never did plump up. (laugh) Lee Minho even said he'd buy me eye cream. However we've already finished filming and I still haven't received it.... (hahaha...)

LMH: That's because after further thought, I realize that if i'd bought you eye cream, I would be implying that you have too many wrinkles, that would be embarassing.

GHS: That's ok. That's ok. (she said this in Chinese)

(GHS's cute reaction, that is her assertion that it's ok in Chinese caused a roar of laughter on site. LMH gave an embarrassed smile).

Q: In real life, would you find the older female younger male relationship acceptable? Can you tell us the perfect lover you have in mind?

LMH: I think if I like a girl, I wouldn't mind her age. Moreover, the older female younger male relationship seems to be very popular in Korea recently. As for my ideal lover, I hope we'd pair up well (having tacit agreement), someone I can chat well with. Someone whom i'm really compatible with!

GHS: (laugh) I hope to be able to call the person I like "oppa". So i hope that person can be slightly older than me. I hope he will be polite and gentlemanly, loyal to his friends and full of manliness!

MH: I would definitely choose Geum Jandi. I'm very much like my role Goo Junpyo in reality, I like my girlfriend to be like a friend whom I can feel comfortable with. Not too different from GJP.

HS: If it's like in the script, where there is parental objection, there'd be pressure. I would try but if it's too hard, I'd choose to give up. But my view toward love is still constantly changing, so I'm also not to definite.

LMH: When i first saw her, I thought she's very "bright" (as in shining) i.e. like a lively and optimistic person. Due to the fact that I had to bully her in the early part of the drama so the initial impression wasn't very good. After spending more time on the set, i realized she was exactly lively and optimistic like what I had thought her to be.

GHS: LMH always gave me the impression of a lively personality, exuberating youth but initially he was a bit awkward with strangers.

LMH's interview for the Secret Campus DVD in Japan which was filmed in Taiwan in June.

Part 1

Q : You debuted with the 'Secret Campus', and how did it feel?
LMH : At my acting debut, I think I was very nervous, totally lost and just busy speaking my lines without any time to breathe. My memory isn't clear on the details, but I think I was so nervous that the shooting was done without my knowing how I was shot.

Q : What was your hardest and enjoyable parts of the shooting?
LMH : The drama had many soccer-playing scenes. So I enjoyed my shooting the most because I like soccer and I'm confident of playing parts like that. As for the difficult parts, it seems that every moment was hard. Once I broke my forefinger while performing a fighting scene with my fist colliding with the other's, and I still remember that. That's why I appear all of a sudden wearing a cast in the later part of the drama, though it wasn't included in the story.

Q : I wonder what you were actually like in high school like the background of 'Secret Campus'?
LMH : I also seem to have had not a little rebellion. For example, I don't think that I liked listening to others. But I think I grew up faster, because I didn't make any big trouble when I was in the second and third year of high school. It seems I spent my adolescence very quietly.

Q : Which subject were you good at and poor at when you were in high school(senior high)?
LMH : I was good at PE(physical education) and poor at math.

Q : In high school, did you have anyone in mind like whom you did or didn't want to be a person in your future?
LMH : It seems that I didn't want to be the type of adult who talked big or showed off some success of them, but I just wanted to be a quiet and naively honest adult.

Q : You played the role of a student with a dream of being a soccer player. How well did you play soccer?
LMH : When I was in elementary school, there were eleven classes in all. I made the entry list after having selected better soccer players in each class, and they just came along with me without complaining. Whatever I said, there was no one to grumble about me.

Q : Was it because you played soccer well or you were good in fights?
LMH : Maybe because they recognized me as a good soccer player. I've bragged about myself for no reason (feels embarrassed). But I can't play soccer well now.

Q : Then, were you the best soccer player among all students in your elementary school?
LMH : Yes, it seemed that I was really good at playing soccer at that time.

Q : The following question your fans are interested in genuinely....Have you ever dated with anyone when you were in high school? If yes, what kind of date have you had?
LMH : Yes, I have dated with someone during high school. Dare I say how I did, we usually went to the movies. As being high school students, many places were not allowed to go so watching movies were what we did most while dating.

Q : wholesomely?
LMH : Yes, what we did were wholesome.

Q : In the drama, Du-hyeon had something confidential, but I wonder if you have a secret of your own..if you had some secret which you didn't want to tell to others.
LMH : I don't think I had any secret. It seems I'm not the style of having a lot of secrets.

Q : Are you the type of person who tells their friends anything?
LMH : I don't tell everything to my friends, but because I didn't have any particular things I did secretly, it's hard to remember what secret I had from my friends at that time.

Q : You are saying that you didn't really have any secrets, but you don't relatively tell important things to others?
LMH : No, I don't. I don't try to hide them, but I'd rather not tell others about me very often.

Q : Now we'll ask you something personal. Maybe your fans like it better.. Are there any hobbies you often enjoy personally?
LMH : I usually tend to enjoy playing online games. Because I can't go out a lot lately, I mainly enjoy computer games, which I have liked since high school.

Q : Aren't there many kinds of games available like sports and RPG games?
LMH : I prefer RPG, because computer games cause me to desire to win, and I hate to lose. Besides, there are rankings and positions in online games, and once I begin to play an online game, I can't help playing long (to raise my level). Now, I'm trying not to play online games deliberately.

Q : It's possible, I know....
LMH : (laughing) It could be called 'addiction', which seems to make me more competitive; at least, make me not want to lose. When I began playing with someone once, I got a bit tired with the gap getting wider against me.

Q : It's not limited to only games, but applies to everything, right?
LMH : Right. Maybe because I played sports in childhood, but I'm relatively competitive in everything.

Q : Do you have any special talent besides soccer and computer games?
LMH : I'm so sociable that I become close to people pretty fast. I'm not really free from being shy, but I think I'm more sociable than ordinary people. Is it sort of special talent, too?

LMH : Before Venezia sinks, I'd like to go. I also want to go to Las Vegas.

Q : Haven't you been Italy?
LMH : No, I haven't.

Q : Which food do you frequently eat recently?
LMH : I frequently eat bean-paste pot stew and kimchi pot stew. For health reason, I also eat beef.

Q : Do you like meat?
LMH : When I eat at home, I always eat more than one kind of meat.

Q : Do you know how to cook?
LMH : I can cook several kinds of food.

Q : What are they?
LMH : I am good at cooking kimchi pot stew, ramyeon(Korean noodle), fried egg rice and fried Kimchi rice ^^

Q : If your girlfriend come to your place, what food can you confidently make for her?
LMH : I'm confident of cooking ramyeon (laughs a lot), because chances are I won't fail. I can succeed 100 %. If I cook a big dish, it will be fried rice.

Q : This time, what is the dish you want your girlfriend to fix for you?
LMH : Just a few side dishes and rice...like those my mother makes.

Q : Then, you mean just a warm meal rather than a luxurious meal?
LMH : Yes. It's okay if it's not delicious, but it'll be better if it is.

Q : Won't it more difficult to make side dishes?
LMH : Yes, I think so. (laughs a lot)

Q : These days you might well find no time to rest enough, yet how do you spend your holiday?
LMH : I often hang out with my close people and friends, just chatting and having meals together, or I watch rental DVD movies, or play online games.

Q : What's the first thing you do in the morning?
LMH : I go to the bathroom still half asleep and brush my teeth. While I begin brushing with my eyes half open, I wake up.

Q : Reversely, what are the things you do before you go to sleep.
LMH : I turn on TV or my computer, and listening to music from the computer.. or watching a program on TV, I fall asleep.

Q : You mean you fall asleep with TV or the computer on?
LMH : Yes. I hate all the time until falling asleep except that I'm so tired as to get to sleep. Because I come to think too much, I like going to sleep using TV or the computer so that I don't have my head in the clouds.

Q : Do you remember what you dreamt recently?
LMH : It's been like a long time since I dreamt something. It seems that I haven't dreamt any dream ever since BOF was started.

Aha! I did..(as if something came to his mind) One time when I was sleeping in my car, I dreamt of a fire starting. As soon as I woke up, I started beating my coordinator, shouting to her, "Put it out!". And what's more, at another time, I ate Kimchi pot stew in my dream, and then upon waking up, said to someone next to me, "Give me some water. It's too salty."^^

Q : Your dreams felt like reality ?
LMH : Yes, they were very much like reality.

Q : Do you wear pajamas while sleeping?

LMH : I think I do various things: do exercise, or watch TV programs or movies to give impetus to me, or a special program about a person to help me empower my life. When I'm spurred by watching them, I feel somewhat energized.
