Boys Over Flowers, Lee Min Ho & Goo Hye Sun Nominated for 14th Asian Television Awards (ATA2009)

The Asian Television Awards (ATA) is the Asian television industry’s most significant and celebrated event, recognising excellence in programming, production and performance.

The awards represent the industry’s foremost recognition and enjoy the support of every major industry player throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Now into its 14th successful year, ATA remains as the only pan-Asian media event of considerable prestige and standing. It recognises talent, spurs industry progress, and enhances the glamour of regional media.

In order to keep the Awards current and incorporate the latest programming trends, categories are reviewed annually according to industry demand. This year, two new award categories have been introduced, namely, Best Cross-Platform Content and Best Achievement in HD (High Definition).

Vote for your 2009 Style Icon

Organized by O'live tv, the second edition of the Style Icon Awards will be held on 11th November where the top trend setters in 2009 from the cultural, artistic and social spectrums of life are handed awards.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, netizens will have an opportunity to pick out their most popular style icon of the year through the internet and text messaging from 1st October.

About 40,000 votes have been registered in the past few days although it looks like it would be SS501's Kim Hyun Joong who is currently leading by a landslide against his fellow Boys Over Flowers alumni, Lee Min Ho. But anything can happen as the poll lines are opened till the end of the month. Proceeds from the text messaging service will be donated to the World Vision organization to help undernourished children.

The event will be broadcast live through O’Live lifestyle channel via tvN and XTM.

It seems that the poll is for the Netizens Award.
I tried to vote but you need to be a member and that means you need to have a Joo Min Deung Lok number which I assume is the Korean Citizens' number to become a member and then you can vote. There was no catagory for the foreigners to vote.

So far, 7158 people are participating in the voting. The final result is suppose to be posted on October 3 at 10:30 AM.

Who Won the Popularity Awards at Seoul Drama Awards 2009?

In conjunction with Yahoo Korea, a portal site was created by organizers of the Seoul Drama Awards 2009, to poll users from around the world, to find out the most popular drama, actor and actress in the past year. The poll was held between 13th July and 30th August. The winners of the respective categories are as follows.

Thanks to his SS501 background and popularity as Yoon Ji Hoo in KBS2TV Boys Over Flowers earlier in the year, Kim Hyun Joong walked away as the most popular actor with 48% of the votes. Lee Junki came in second with 26% for his Iljimae role while fellow Boys Over Flower star, Lee Minho was placed third.

Nation's little sister, Moon Geun Young was voted the most popular actress for her role in Painter of the Wind. Han Hyo Joo was 2nd for her Iljimae role while Goo Hye Sun came in third for Boy Before Flowers.

In the most popular drama category, Boys Over Flowers won with 38% of the votes, with Painter of the Wind and Iljimae coming in second and third with 34% and 26% of the votes respectively.

Kind of strange that the winners, second and third place all went to Korea. There were entries from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan among the nominees but none managed to register on the votes. And another coincidence was that it was just a 3-way fight between Boys Over Flowers, Iljimae and Painter of the Wind.

The 2009 Seoul Drama Awards ceremony will be held on 11th September, at the Olympic Hall in Seoul's OIympic Park from 6.30PM (KST). The prestigious event will be shown live via KBS2TV and probably KBSWorld (check your local listings).

So be sure to mark the date down.

MNET 20's Choice Goo Hye Sun Plays Rubik's Cube Cut

The MNET 20's thing is a special feature since there will be the MNET 20s Choice Awards this coming August 28th & it will be held live from (5pm-10pm Korean time) @ Jamsil Indoor Stadium.

The event is being held to grace the choices of the 20s generation on their true trend/cultural setter icons. The event highlights include awards ceremony, blue carpet ceremony and exceptional perfomances. Some of the awards are freshly introduced this year.The final results will be based on 50% from survey ratings from the 20s generation and 50% on the polling outcome.

(How exciting! I wonder if Hyesun eoni is still going to this awards show? I hope she does!!)

(I love that exact quote from her!!! I love it and her more because she is talking from her own experience and not just quoting someone else's pretty lines!!! She is a remarkable young woman and I don't think she will quit trying her desires even if she is no longer in her 20's.)

Fall's approaching with a lot of anticipation for artist comebacks and drama premieres but summer's not quite over yet. Mnet's third annual 20's Choice Awards (think Teen Choice Awards) is coming August 28th! Don't ask me why Mnet clearly states it as a "summer break" but airs it in August (some have mentioned October but I don't think that's correct)...

One fan posted this afternote on DC MH gall on 8/14. Her brother(not by blood) works in the Trugen head office. He attended the Trugen annual conference meeting held on 8/12. At the meeting, he greeted and shook hands with MH. Below is the afternote that the fan has heard from her brother.

When my brother saw MH at Trugen conference, he couldn't believe it. He greeted and shook hands with MH. Later he took a group photo with MH. He felt envy as also being a male since MH has the best noble-looking he has ever seen.

My brother said to MH "You are absolutely cool" while shaking hands, and then MH responded "Thank you" with a bright smile. He felt that he almost got faint for MH in spite of being a male.^^

He admired MH's bling bling skin, nose, eyes and lips since he looked like a perfect sculpture. Also, he admired MH for his height that MH has really long and straight legs with black skinny pants on.

Before he saw MH in person, he had already thought MH's photos in Trugen catalog were really great. However, he saw MH personally then the catalog is not good at all. Comparing with MH's real look, the photos in the catalog are too ordinary and not good enough. He spoke with the highest praise of MH.

It seemed he could not stop complimenting MH.^^ Even my brother is tall, however, he looked upward to see MH at the conference. LMH politely greeted the staff one by one in the conference and sometimes waved at the female staff who showed their interests in him. (sensible MH^^)

In fact, Trugen holds the conference/seminar annually for 1 night 2 days, and this time MH was specially invited. Since the previous exclusive model Jo In Sung acted for Trugen for a long time, JIS was very close with Trugen staff, and the staff were also very satisfied with him on his prestige and personality.

When JIS joined the military service a few months ago, he visited the Trugen head office personally since he wanted to say goodbye to the staff and treated them to the dinner. As JIS had done a great job for Trugen, the company selected the new model carefully.

Among those nominated actors, Trugen officials finally decided to have MH as the new exclusive model. At first, Trugen just made a temporary contract with MH with a secret model fee. After that, MH's model fee has increased so Trugen made the contract with MH with model fee that is similar to JIS.

Since the decision for Trugen has not been easy, they have very high expectation for MH. Also MH has been trying his best for being the model of Trugen. Frankly, Trugen has not expected MH would have the high popularity as it is now when they signed the contract. MH is like a natural model for Trugen.

Originally, MH scheduled to stay there for about 20 minutes but the responses were so enthusiastic that MH stayed there for 10 minutes more.( prudent MH^^) The Trugen people were very surprised to see so many MH's fan gathered there even though it's not his public schedule.
